Quick Start
Quick start
What torta is, what you need before you begin, and what counts as your first success.
Torta gives you a small AI team that builds your project on your own computer. Every agent is a Claude Code session on your own login, running in its own folder on your disk. There is no torta server and no account to create.
What you need
- Node 18 or newer.
python3on your PATH.- Claude Code, installed and signed in.
torta doctor checks all three. torta start and torta init check Claude
Code before they ask you anything.
Pick your path
- Take the non-coder path, one line pasted into Terminal once, if you have never opened Terminal.
- Take the developer path, a global install and
torta start, if a terminal is already part of your day.
What first success looks like
- A workspace exists at the location you chose in the wizard.
- Your first ticket is waiting in the needs you lane, asking “Approve this before it gets built?”
- You approved it, and an agent picked it up in its terminal pane.
- The ticket landed in done.
Nothing is created on disk until you press create workspace, and nothing runs until you approve something.
Walk through that first ticket to see each step.
The three habits
- Check “needs you”, where your decisions live.
- Keep “settings” green: each red row states exactly what to do.
- Talk to your agents: open the terminal panel, click an agent, and type.
